United Communal Fund

We protect and nurture our Jewish community. Our commitments to our beneficiaries have increased and as we continue forward we are proud of our achievements, which would not be possible if not for our dedicated and loyal contributors. We will continue to support our worthy beneficiaries and thereby help them to secure the future of our Jewish community in South Africa.

Dedicated and passionate, the South African Jewish Board of Deputies (SAJBD) team works tirelessly to ensure that your civil rights as a Jewish South African are protected. Through continual engagement with government, political parties, civil society, media and other faith groups, the SAJBD addresses the needs and concerns of SA Jewry.  Assisted by its legal advisers, it responds swiftly to all instances of antisemitism. It has a record of consistent success in prosecuting such cases, through the SA Human Rights Commission, in the Equality Court and in other judicial forums.

The Board provides a strong and balanced voice in the mainstream media, and builds bridges of understanding between Jews and their fellow South Africans. The SAJBD is committed to ensuring that SA Jewry can express their Jewish identity with pride.

SAUJS1

The South African Union of Jewish Students (SAUJS) provides a dynamic vehicle for Jewish university students to combine higher education with building on and proudly affirming their Jewish heritage. It enhances the Jewish experience on campus with a range of social, cultural, religious and educational events, including tikkun olam projects, this year’s ‘Dialogue not Division’ campaign that provided a forthright and effective counter to the hateful ‘Israel Apartheid Week’ initiative, interfaith partnerships and Yom Ha’atzmaut.

SAUJS’s Leadership Development Programme develops leadership skills and fosters a better understanding of Israel.
